My name is Lindy Mullen Doyle and I am currently serving as the District 2 Director on the Sedro-Woolley School Board. I attended Sedro-Woolley Schools K-12, and am proud to raise my three young children just outside Lyman, in the same area where my family settled in 1902. My pioneer relatives farmed, raised cattle and built and operated sawmills as integral members of our early community. In the five generations that followed, my family has contributed as educators, loggers, miners, veterans, and scientists; all are honest, hardworking people like me.
I have really fond memories of growing up just outside the little town of Lyman and of my school years at Lyman Elementary. After attending Cascade Middle School, I moved on to the high school and graduated as valedictorian from Sedro-Woolley High School in 2001. The next fall, I started as a student-athlete at Central Washington University on scholarship for running in Cross-Country and Track.
Over the next 8 years, I earned Bachelor's and Master's Degrees of Science in biology from CWU and the University of Montana. At CWU and UM, I had incredible opportunities to teach university classes, to design and conduct original research with salamanders and sea spiders, to travel across the world including China, Antarctica, New Zealand, and Tanzania, and to compete as a student athlete. After I completed my Masters Degree in 2009, I moved back home to Lyman.
Back in Skagit County, I worked in medical labs and then started a new challenge at Janicki Industries, where I grew into a Lead Continuous Improvement position for the company. I used the communication, problem solving, and data management skills I had honed with my science background to help the company achieve some challenging milestones including AS9100 quality certification and implementing SAP. With JI's support, I gained credentials and experience in Lean Leadership and as a Master Project Manager. While at Janicki, I returned to teaching college level biology lecture and lab courses until I became a mom.
I am incredibly fortunate to be able to spend time with my kids while they grow up. I have a nine year old son, a five year old daughter, and an 8 month old daughter that are growing up right next to the Prevedell farm outside Lyman much like I did. My kids attend Lyman Elementary School, and I appreciate the opportunity to represent the community on the board as a voice for families, educators, students and staff in support of student learning.
I am a strong leader with an impeccable and undisputable record of integrity, respect and professionalism. I do my own research, I ask hard questions, I push for academic rigor, I work WITH parents, I follow through for staff, students, and families. I am proud of my support for America’s fundamental rights and freedoms, and I have shown that I am both qualified and energized to help ALL of our families, our kids and our schools to meet the needs of our community through collaboration.
